President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming inauguration on January 20, 2025, will take place indoors due to extreme winter weather conditions, CNN reports. The decision was made in response to an Arctic blast expected to bring dangerously low temperatures to Washington, D.C.
Weather Forces Historic Change
The National Weather Service has predicted that temperatures in the nation’s capital will drop to around 19°F (-7°C), with wind chills making it feel even colder. With public safety in mind, officials announced that the traditional outdoor ceremony at the U.S. Capitol will instead be moved inside the Capitol Rotunda.
