Chiefs Veteran Coach Announce Retirement Ahead of 2025 Season

The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for another Super Bowl run in 2025, but they’ll do so without one of their most respected assistant coaches. On Wednesday, the team announced the retirement of Assistant Special Teams Coach Andy Hill, who played a vital role in the franchise’s recent era of dominance. A Championship-Winning Tenure in Kansas City Hill joined Andy Reid’s coaching staff in 2020 and quickly became an essential part of one of the NFL’s top special teams units. During his five-year stint with the Chiefs, Hill helped guide the team to four straight AFC Championship appearances and two Super Bowl titles. Before entering the NFL ranks, Hill had a legendary college coaching career at the University of Missouri, where he became a Missouri Sports Hall of Famer. His connection with Reid dates back to the early ’90s, when Reid was an assistant at Mizzou and Hill was starting his own coaching journey. Chiefs, Fans React to Hill’s Retirement The team posted a heartfelt message on social media to honor the outgoing coach: Fans also flooded social media with appreciation and fond memories: A Legacy of Longevity and Excellence Hill began his coaching career in 1992, eventually joining the Missouri coaching staff in 1996, where he spent 23 seasons in various roles, including associate head coach. His move to the Chiefs in 2020 reunited him, at least in spirit, with Reid and allowed him to cap his career with two NFL championships. As the Chiefs look to continue their dominance in 2025, they’ll do so without one of their most trusted sideline voices, but Coach Hill leaves behind a legacy of consistency, professionalism, and winning.
