Paying for a hotel room doesn’t mean you can do whatever you please. Like all businesses, hotels can ask you to leave, as long as it doesn’t violate the Civil Rights Act. These 10 behaviors will get you kicked out in a heartbeat.
10. Yelling at the Staff
Just don’t. Ever. Generally speaking, most hotel staff are there to make your hotel stay as pleasant as possible. Courtesy and respect go both ways. The goal of the staff is to please you. However, sometimes it takes a little patience to get there. Yelling at the staff won’t help. Such behavior will only get you booted.
9. Sneaking Extra Guests in — Human or Animal
Hotels require you to inform them of how many guests you will have in your room because it’s a critical safety element. It can become a factor in case of an emergency. If a hotel finds out that you have snuck another human guest or animal into your room – you run the risk of getting kicked out.
8. Vandalizing Your Room
You might be tempted to behave like a rock star and trash your hotel room, but it’s a bad idea for many reasons. Getting kicked out of the hotel is only one potential consequence. The hotel will likely bill you for the damage. Worse, depending on your behavior, you could have the cops called on you for destruction of property.
7. Being Loud or Having a Noisy Party
Elevated talking, babies crying, and dogs occasionally barking are generally tolerated. However, being excessively loud, yelling, banging on the walls, and playing loud music is not. Hotels try to ensure a certain level of quiet and relaxation for their guests. You may get a warning. If the noise persists, they could send you down the road looking for a room elsewhere.
6. Skinny Dipping or Streaking
First off, most states and municipalities have laws against indecent exposure. Nonetheless, there are always those people who can’t resist skinny dipping in the hotel pool. There is always a joker who thinks it’s hilarious to go streaking down the halls. But if you get caught, you can expect to get booted, and possibly the cops called as well.
5. “Getting Busy” Outside of Your Room
Just as some people get a thrill from “the mile-high club,” others enjoy a little “risky business” beyond the bedroom on the hotel grounds. However, there are laws against sex in public and indecent exposure. Keep your “getting busy” within your room. This can get you booted or arrested or both depending on local laws.
4. Overconsumption
Many hotels feature restaurants and bars and offer alcoholic beverages to their guests. Sometimes, even free. However, as with most things in life, moderation is key. Over-consuming adult beverages and becoming drunk and obnoxious isn’t welcome. Continuing such behavior throughout your stay could cause it to be cut short abruptly.
3. Stealing From Staff, Your Room, or Other Guests
No matter where you go in the world, stealing is a crime. If the hotel finds out that you have stolen items from your room, its staff, or other guests, they are most likely going to call the police. Not only will you be ejected from your room, but your next accommodation could be a jail cell.
