15 Sports Icons Who Couldn’t Escape Financial Disaster

It’s easy to assume that if you make millions playing sports, you’re set for life. But for some of the biggest names in athletics, fame and fortune proved no match for bad investments, lavish spending, and financial mismanagement.

From championship rings to bankruptcy court, these 15 sports legends serve as reminders that even the richest athletes can fall hard. Whether it was trusting the wrong people or living way beyond their means, they just couldn’t keep the money from slipping through their fingers.
