Chicago Sky Sends Clear Angel Reese Message After Mystics Game

The Chicago Sky are making their stance crystal clear: Angel Reese is that player.

With Kamilla Cardoso missing her fourth straight game due to national team duty with Brazil, Reese once again took center stage in Tuesday’s road matchup against the Washington Mystics. The 6-foot-3 forward, already on a hot streak, wasted no time making an impact, logging her sixth consecutive double-double before halftime.

She capped off the night with 22 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 assists, putting an exclamation point on yet another dominant outing.

After one particularly powerful basket in the paint, the Sky’s official account posted a highlight of Reese with the caption: “THE SHOULDERS OK 5.”

The message? Angel Reese is carrying this team, and she’s doing it with authority.

No Cardoso, No Problem?

While Cardoso was building off her season-best 27-point game from late June, Reese has consistently been the Sky’s backbone. Heading into Tuesday’s game, Reese ranked second in team scoring (12.6 PPG) and led the Sky in rebounds with 12.8 per game. With her recent surge, she’s firmly planted herself as the franchise’s front-runner.

When Cardoso returns, head coach Tyler Marsh will be looking to harness both players’ strengths. For now, however, Reese is proving she’s more than capable of leading the Sky during this critical stretch.

What’s Next for the Sky?

After wrapping up the road trip, the Sky return home for a long-awaited matchup against the Dallas Wings, featuring standout rookie Paige Bueckers. Chicago will stay at Wintrust Arena through July 22 before heading to Minnesota after the WNBA All-Star break.

With the way Angel Reese is playing, the Sky’s home crowd could be in for a show.
