Angel Reese Draws Strong Praise From WNBA Despite Loss

Angel Reese Extends Double-Double Streak to Nine

Angel Reese continues to prove she’s one of the WNBA’s most consistent forces, posting her ninth straight double-double in Monday night’s 91-78 loss to the Minnesota Lynx. Despite the defeat, the second-year star powered the Chicago Sky with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists on 9-of-14 shooting.

The performance marked another dominant showing in the paint, which the WNBA acknowledged with a glowing tweet:

“Angel Reese is ownin’ the paint.”

Reese’s streak, which began on June 22, has made her one of the league’s most talked-about players leading into All-Star Weekend.

Sky Fall Short, But Reese Shines Bright

Reese was one of three Sky players to score in double figures. Rachel Banham added 15 points and Rebecca Allen contributed 10 off the bench. Meanwhile, Kamilla Cardoso struggled, scoring only six points.

For the Lynx, Napheesa Collier led all scorers with 29 points. She also had five assists and three rebounds in a standout performance. Courtney Williams nearly had a triple-double, finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.

The Sky dropped to 7-14, while the Lynx improved to 19-4, remaining a top contender in the league. Chicago hosts the Atlanta Dream next before the WNBA All-Star Break, where Reese will team up with Collier on the All-Star stage.

Reese’s Awesome Year Continues

Since being drafted seventh overall in 2024, Reese has become one of the WNBA’s top rebounders. She averaged 13.1 rebounds per game as a rookie and continues to improve on both ends of the floor. Her physicality, efficiency, and confidence in the paint have made her a cornerstone for Chicago’s rebuilding effort.

As the WNBA All-Star Game approaches, all eyes will be on Reese, not just for her stats, but for the star power and energy she brings to every matchup.
