10. Azealia Banks
Azealia Banks is a rapper who garnered attention in 2016 for posting a video to Instagram saying “real witches do real things,” before attempting to clean a closet that was covered in feathers and a mysterious black substance. She said the mess was caused by three years of brujeria, a form of witchcraft with Caribbean and Latin American roots. People speculated that she was sacrificing live chickens in the closet.
9. Cybill Shepherd
Cybill Shepherd is an actress who made waves back in 1996 at the Golden Globes. While giving her acceptance speech after winning the award for best actress in a television series, she said “In particular, thanks to the Great Goddess in all her guises, may she bring us peace, joy, and righteous anger, blessed be.” If she had made that speech today you know evangelical TikTok would have lost their minds.
8. Aubrey Plaza
Aubrey Plaza has always been fascinated in witchy stuff. Her mother got her interested in the more mystical side of life at a young age. She was apparently goaded into performing a full moon ritual at a party at Megan Mullally’s house. She has also co-authored a children’s book called The Christmas Witch. It’s a truly delight story that is fun for all ages.
7. Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey is a singer who I’m sure many witches have on their Spotify playlists. Her music certainly has a lot of magical vibes. But is she really a witch? Well, the answer to that is somewhat tricky. She did admit to hexing Donald Trump back in 2017. But she also shut down a Christian TikTok influencer who accused her of witchcraft by claiming that she knew every verse in the Bible. She also had the homophobic and problematic preacher Judah Smith perform a spoken word track on one of her albums. So the jury is out on what she actually practices.
6. Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande has always believed in demons and once claimed to have fought one off. She also admitted to being a literal witch in an interview and said she would have given her interviewer a tarot reading if she had remembered her cards.
5. Lorde
When people picture a modern witch in their head, they probably think of a person who looks just like Lorde. The “Royals” singer has claimed to have seen the ghost of David Bowie. She then went on to say “I felt he was watching over me in a way. It would be no surprise to anyone I am not weirded out by ghosts or spirits. I am basically a witch.”
4. Sammy Davis Jr.
Sammy Davis Jr. converted to Judaism in the 1960s. But there are people that believe that he became a member of the Church of Satan in the 70s. He certainly spent time with people who were members of the Church and went to some of their parties. But he wrote in his autobiography that it was just a short-lived interest.
3. Gabrielle Anwar
Gabrielle Anwar is an actress mostly known for her roles in Burn Notice and Scent of a Woman. She identifies as a pagan and has lamented that her pagan beliefs are at odds with the rampant sexism that permeates society.

2. Fairuza Balk
Fairuza Balk played witches in two iconic and campy witch films, The Worst Witch and The Craft. She also bought an occult shop in Los Angeles after she starred in the latter. Though she claims that she bought it as a means of saving it from completely going out of business. She has gone on to say that she is not a practicing witch.

1. Stevie Nicks
I can’t make a list of alleged celebrity witches without including Stevie Nicks! Nicks wrote and performed “Rhiannon” with her band Fleetwood Mac back in 1976 and people have been calling her a witch ever since. At first she pushed back against the claims but now she embraces the rumors. She famously played a witchy version of herself on the hit show American Horror Story: Coven. Even if she’s not a witch, the witch community will always claim her.
