Lexie Hull Stands by Caitlin Clark Amid Shooting Woes
The Indiana Fever wrapped up their West Coast road trip on a high note with a 94–86 win over the Seattle Storm Tuesday night, but the spotlight once again landed on Caitlin Clark—and not for the usual reasons.
Clark struggled through another rough shooting night, scoring just six points on 3-of-13 shooting and going 0-for-6 from three. Her shooting slump has stretched over the last three games, where she’s hit just 1-of-23 from beyond the arc. That’s a chilling 4.3% from deep, uncharacteristic for a player known for her long-range ability.
Hull: “She’s a Great Shooter. She’ll Be Fine”
While fans and analysts are starting to raise eyebrows, Lexie Hull—who recorded her first career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds—didn’t hesitate to back her teammate. After the game, Hull told reporters the team isn’t losing sleep over Clark’s slump.
“She’ll be fine,” Hull said confidently. “We are not worried about it. She’s a great shooter, great player—this happens to every great player.”
Despite her shooting struggles, Clark still tallied nine assists against Seattle. Bringing her average to 8.9 assists per game, tied for the league lead with Alyssa Thomas.
Fever Finding New Contributors
Clark’s slump has opened the door for other players to shine, Lexie Hull in particular. Since moving into the starting lineup, Hull is averaging career highs across the board: 9.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, while shooting an efficient 48.5% from the field.
The Fever, now back at .500 (7–7), return home to face Kelsey Plum and the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. ET. If Hull’s breakout continues and Clark finds her rhythm again, Indiana could be heating up at just the right time.
