The Quick Report

20 Vintage Items We Still Love Today

Just because something is modern doesn’t necessarily mean it is better than its vintage counterpart. Sometimes the older model is the one that will last for ages and still work like it did when it was new. Here are 20 vintage items we still love today!

Watches

Vintage watches are not only fashionable, but a lot of them stand the test of time. (I said what I said.) They are dependable and usually just need a battery to keep going. So go ahead, put on your vintage watch! Everyone will be envious of you.

Sewing Machines

Old-school sewing machines might work better than newer models. They can sew straight lines longer and even though they might not have all the bells and whistles of new ones, they still get the job done. Try sewing on an old sewing machine and see how well your creations come out!

There’s a reason that vintage Pyrex sells for a lot of money. These dishes are so well made that they last a long time. Look for Pyrex dishes made from the 1940s to the 1980s to get the best quality.

Jewelry is made to last a long time. That’s why vintage jewelry is the perfect thing to add to your collection. You can shine with some of the coolest gems of yesteryear, all by wearing something made a long time ago. Why go new with your jewelry when you can get good quality out of something old?

Vinyl Records

As long as vinyl records don’t have scratches on them, they can last a long time! I have records from the 1950s that still play well in my modern record player. It also sounds better to hear the crackle of the old record. Record lovers, you know what I am talking about.

Dutch Ovens

Dutch ovens are great because they can distribute heat within them evenly. But you don’t necessarily need a brand new one to have it cook well. Old Dutch ovens work just as well, or even better, than modern versions of the cookware.

Comic Books

There is a reason old comic books are collector’s items. They just seem to have been better with their stories and drawings (no shade on new comic books). If taken care of, old comic books can last a long time, making it possible for future generations to enjoy them.

Vintage Lighting

It might be surprising to hear this, but a lot of vintage lighting, such as lamps, can be used today. People love using something old to help brighten up a room. As long as your cord isn’t messed up, you can still plug in vintage lighting.

Vintage Furniture

Add flair to any room by using vintage furniture! The mid-century modern look is huge right now, so old furniture will make you hip. It is also sometimes cheaper than buying things new. Hip and affordable? That’s a win-win!

Typewriters

Getting ready to write the next best-selling novel? Why type it on a new computer when you can type it on a typewriter? Typewriters are timeless. They might not be as advanced as the computer, but they certainly get the job done when it comes to writing.

Vintage Clothing

People go thrifting all the time. There is an extreme want for vintage clothing and to be honest, some of the clothes of the past are better made than those of the present. Vintage style is super in, so look chic with your vintage clothes.

China Sets

There was a reason why people were given China sets for their weddings. These timeless dishes last a long time (as long as you don’t drop them). The vintage sets have dainty designs that make them seem so fancy.

Silverware

When properly taken care of, silverware can last for decades. Another staple of a wedding registry, people want their silverware and some want it vintage. To be fair, the vintage variety is made with cuter designs!

Baseball Cards

Baseball cards are collector’s items that can go for a lot of money. The vintage cards are best because they highlight players who used to be great in baseball. Come on, show off your baseball card collections!

Board Games

Board games are fun to play! They also don’t need to be new for you to get joy out of them. Old board games bring good times for pretty cheap. Don’t miss out on having fun because you think you need to play something new.

Cameras

Putting film in a camera seems obsolete because we now have digital cameras and smartphones. However, film cameras can still offer some of the best-quality of photos out there. And there is something fun about going to get your film processed.

Alarm Clocks

Having an alarm in your phone is neat until it doesn’t go off! Old-school alarm clocks won’t let you down and they are probably louder than the one on your phone. They also keep going until you shut them off, making them a good way to ensure you wake up on time.

Vintage Toys

Some vintage toys are dangerous and should stay in the past. But that doesn’t mean that all of them should be avoided! Some vintage toys can bring just as much joy to the kids of today as they did to the kids of yesterday.
