Life can be so stressful. Let’s take a look at the ten tips to destress our life and turn our space into an oasis of calm.
10. Paint Your Walls A Calming Color
Color therapy, also known as chromotherapy, is more of a pseudoscience rather than a medically proven theory. But there is no denying that our favorite colors just make us feel better. Some people believe that specific colors and shades can have a calming effect on our mood. Blues, greens, purples, and pinks are said to be the most calming.
9. Play Peaceful Music On A Low Volume Throughout The Day
It can be fun to rock out to loud music. And it can be cathartic to scream a break-up anthem at the top of your lungs. But if you are looking to make your space more peaceful, you may want to put the Foo Fighters and Taylor Swift on the back burner. Play some classical or smooth jazz with soft vocals on a low volume. The dulcet tones will make you feel like you’re floating through your home.
8. If Music Is Not Your Thing, Play Nature Sounds
Not everyone is into flowery lyrics and soft jams. If that’s the case for you, play some sounds from nature. The sounds of waves crashing on the beach, crickets chirping, or a thunderstorm can do a world of good for mental and emotional health.
7. Fill Your Home With Books
In the age of Audible and e-books, we have forgotten how relaxing it is to curl up in bed with a good read and a cup of hot chocolate. Surrounding yourself with books will remind you of being in a nice quiet library, and some people find it easier to work and concentrate in a library-esque setting.
6. Aromatherapy
Like with chromotherapy, some people believe that aromatherapy is a pseudoscience. But you know what? Smelling nice scents makes me feel better, and I don’t need the experts to verify that. Scents like lavender, bergamot, and sandalwood are known to be some of the most calming scents.
5. Establish A Designated Work Space
It can be so tempting to pay bills or do your work in bed, especially if you work from home. Some medical professionals believe that working in bed can make you less productive and disrupt your sleep cycle. So it’s important to set up an office or work space where you can focus on the task at hand. Let your bed be exclusively for rest and relaxation. Speaking of beds…
4. Make Your Bed A Cozy Safe Space
We have all seen those perfectly made beds that you can bounce a quarter off of. Those beds look so neat and tidy, you almost don’t want to sleep on them. And therein lies the problem. Instead of trying to turn your bed into a centerpiece, make it a comfortable place to lay your head. Cover your bed with a down duvet or a homemade quilt. Instead of decorative pillows, opt for sweet stuffed animals. You’re never too old for stuffed animals.
3. Bathtub Tray
Sometimes all you need after a long, stressful day is a book, a glass of wine or tea, and a nice long soak in the tub. With a bathtub tray you can have all three of those things! Bathtub trays will make your tub feel so cozy you won’t want to leave.
2. Plants And Rocks
Are you one of those people who feel more at home in nature? Then why don’t you bring nature inside? Vibrant plants, colorful flowers, and interesting stones will make your home feel like a woodland wonderland.

1. Hang Up Pictures That Remind You Of Happy Times
Thanks to the Internet and social media, we don’t really feel the need to hang up pictures of our loved ones or important moments anymore. If we want to see a happy memory, we can just look it up on our phone. But it may be beneficial to actually frame and hang up pictures that remind us of pleasant moments, so we can see them any time rather than digging through albums on our phones.
