Never buy winter clothing right before or during the season. Jackets, sweaters, winter boots, and other clothing made for cold weather always go on sale at the end of winter. Stores must clear merchandise to make room for new spring clothing. At winter’s end, you’ll likely have a better sense of what needs to be replaced in your cold-weather wardrobe.

9. Patio Furniture

Plan if you want to save on patio furniture. Never buy patio furniture until the end of summer. Avoid the overhyped Memorial Day sales because these will never be as good as the end-of-season sales. You can start looking for deals as early as August, and sales usually continue through Labor Day.

8. Electronics

The end of any season (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter) is the best time to buy decor and save money for the next year. However, Black Friday is often filled with sales on Christmas decor. Now that Black Friday sometimes runs throughout November, you can find deals and won’t have to wait to get stocked up for the coming season.

Convenience stores are often the worst place to find deals, but they occasionally have sales also. Another option is to seek out coupons online that apply to any store.

Mattresses are one of the most overpriced items and one of the cheapest to manufacture at a cost between $75-$150. You’ll always find mattresses on sale on one of the big holidays, such as Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Black Friday. A floor-model mattress will often yield an even bigger discount.
