The Golden Girls was on for seven seasons, from 1985 to 1992. The show is about four divorced or widowed women living together in Miami. It also happens to be one of the funniest shows ever made (yes, you can quote me on that). Here are the top 10 episodes of The Golden Girls.
10. The Engagement (The Pilot)
The pilot episode introduces us to the girls. We get a sense of their personalities and immediately fall in love with them. Speaking of falling in love, in this episode, Blanche falls in love and is heading down the aisle, leaving the other girls questioning where they are going to live. Since this is just the beginning of the series, we can all guess how Blanche’s wedding turns out.
9. Ladies of the Evening
The girls’ house is being fumigated but they don’t care because they have tickets to see Burt Reynolds! However, the hotel they stay at isn’t exactly what it seems and before they know it, they are carted off to jail. Why? Because they are accused of being escorts.
8. The Case of the Libertine Bell
The girls go to a murder mystery dinner and have fun. Well, that is until there is a real murder that occurs and Blanche is the number one suspect. Will her name be cleared?
7. Henny Penny – Straight No Chaser
Dorothy is a substitute teacher for a school and is placed in charge of the school’s play. But when the kids get sick and/or quarantined, the girls are brought in as their replacements. However, Rose learns the ending of the play and is not happy about it, so she tries to add her own lines… which doesn’t go over too well.
6. The Break-In
There is a break-in when the girls are at a concert. They are all shaken up, but Rose especially has a fear of the robbery. Her ways of coping drive the rest of the girls insane, but what can she do when all she feels is scared? Just so you know, there is one casualty in this episode: a vase.
5. Old Friends
Warning: this episode will probably make you cry. Sophia makes friends with a man she meets on the boardwalk. Meanwhile, Blanche accidentally gives away Rose’s teddy bear to a little girl and the little girl holds the bear for ransom when Blanche asks her to give it back.
4. Brother Can You Spare That Jacket?
The girls play the lottery and Dorothy’s ticket ends up being a winner of $10,000! Blanche stores the ticket in her new jacket which is styled to look old. Sophia doesn’t know the ticket is stored there and then gives the jacket away to charity. Will the girls get their ticket back?
3. 72 Hours
Rose receives news that a blood transfusion she had may have contained HIV. She gets a blood test but has to wait 72 hours to see if she is positive or negative. This episode came out during the AIDS epidemic and was very ahead of its time.
2. Sick and Tired (Part 1 and 2)
Dorothy constantly feels sick all the time, having little energy. These two episodes chronicle her journey of going from doctor to doctor to figure out what is wrong. When most of the doctors she sees say that her issues are emotional, Dorothy gets frustrated because she knows she isn’t imagining her symptoms.

1. To Catch a Neighbor
The girls have new neighbors that they are friendly with. However, they find out that their new neighbors are thieves when detectives ask them if they can use their house for a stakeout. The girls eventually get to join in on the police work, during a daring mission. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention! This episode has a young George Clooney playing one of the detectives.
