Spencer Jones Is Ready and Yankees Fans Are Done Waiting
The Yankees are in a full-blown identity crisis. They say they’re contenders, but their player development is telling a very different story. Jasson Domínguez, once dubbed the franchise’s future, now looks more like a lost bet. Swinging at ghosts and misplaying routine fly balls, his .195 average and brutal fielding have fans begging for change.
And change may finally be coming.
After a viral clip of Spencer Jones launching his third homer of the game made the rounds on social media, fans didn’t just cheer, they roared. The 24-year-old is slashing .317/.415/.691 with 26 homers and 16 stolen bases across Double-A and Triple-A. And the Yankees may have no choice but to act.

The Domínguez Dilemma
Fans are losing patience with Domínguez. On the popular Talkin’ Yanks podcast, one host said he looked like “a dog being cornered by security.” Since his 2025 return, he’s struggled to read plays, let alone make them.
While Domínguez flashes raw tools, he lacks instincts. That’s the theme across the Yankees’ homegrown core — Volpe is streaky, Gleyber plateaued, and now Domínguez is struggling.
Spencer Jones isn’t a maybe. He’s the guy with elite tools and polished production. When someone is torching Triple-A with 26 bombs and a near .700 slugging percentage, you promote.
“Move him up now, idc. We need the ball in play,” one fan posted bluntly.
Another wrote: “Say anything you want, but I’d rather see Domínguez losing playing time for Jones than for Grisham.”

They’re not wrong. Even if Domínguez edges Grisham offensively (.253 AVG vs. .251), his defense has been a liability. And while fans debate where Jones fits among Soto, Judge, and Domínguez, one thing is clear, his bat belongs in the Bronx.
Some fans are calling for more than a promotion. They want a reshuffle.
“Trade Domínguez and Schlitter for Suárez and Gallen now. Bring up Jones,”
Comments like this sound dramatic but highlight one thing: Spencer Jones is forcing the conversation. The fans are done watching misplays in the outfield while a legit slugger is tearing up Scranton.
And when fans start building trade packages and plotting outfield rotations, it’s not just noise, but call for a new direction.
