WNBA Criticized Over Midday Game Times for Fever, Sky

WNBA Draws Fan Backlash Over Midday Game Times

The WNBA is under fire from fans after scheduling weekday games for the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky during work hours.

The Fever, currently 9-9, have been without Caitlin Clark for 10 games due to a groin injury. That includes their win in the Commissioner’s Cup championship. The Sky sit near the bottom of the league at 5-12, though Angel Reese is set to make her second All-Star appearance. Still, both teams remain big draws for fans, making upcoming game times even more disturbing.

Fans Rips Early Games Schedules

The Sky will tip off against the Washington Mystics at 11:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, while the Fever host the Golden State Valkyries at noon ET on Wednesday. These games appear to be part of the league’s “camp day” initiative, where summer camps bring kids to matinee games.

But while the program is designed for fun, not everyone is thrilled. Fans on social media voiced frustration over the timing—especially those on the West Coast, where some games start as early as 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. PT.

“Whose idea was it to have the Fever play at noon on Wednesday? Some of us are stuck working,” one fan posted.

Others chimed in with sarcasm and complaints, saying they’ll miss the games due to their day jobs or time zone differences.

“Ummm can someone explain why our next game against the Indiana Fever is at 9 a.m. PST on a Wednesday morning?” another wrote.

One fan even joked that WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert “needs to pay for her crimes.”

Despite the pushback, both the Fever and Sky hope to bounce back in their upcoming matchups. It’s still unclear whether Caitlin Clark will return after missing five straight games.
