Safety and Salary Cap Protections in Place

One major concern has been player safety. To address that, the proposal includes injury protection and salary cap credit for any player hurt while competing in Olympic flag football. It also sets minimum standards for medical staff and field conditions, ensuring a safe playing environment.

The inclusion of both men’s and women’s divisions in Olympic flag football adds to the momentum behind this new sport. The hope is to not only showcase elite athletes but also help grow flag football internationally, something the NFL has pushed for in recent years.

NFL Stars Ready to Represent Team USA

Several top NFL players have already shown interest in playing. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke about the Olympics at a press conference in Frankfurt back in 2023.

“I definitely want to,” Mahomes said. “Football is a great game that has given me so much, and I want to make sure everyone gets the same experience that I got growing up.”

He’s not alone. Other big names like Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans, and Micah Parsons have all expressed excitement about the idea of competing.

If the resolution passes, fans could witness a dream roster of NFL superstars representing the United States in Olympic flag football. It would not only raise the sport’s global profile but also give football fans a new reason to tune in.
