NFL Power Rankings: The Top 10 Teams Making Waves Midseason

We’ve hit the mid-season point for the 2024 NFL season, and each team is fighting for a position in the playoffs this winter. Let’s look at the current top 10 teams, some notable highlights from the season, and their likelihood to reach the postseason.

Washington Commanders

Openverse

The Washington Commanders are looking like a real playoff team after a few disappointing seasons in a row. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has been extremely impressive and the offense and defense have both shown great improvement. If Daniels can keep on improving throughout the rest of the season, there’s a solid chance they could make a deep playoff run.

Baltimore Ravens

Openverse

The Ravens have had a strong season so far, with QB Lamar Jackson leading a dynamic offense to complement a strong defense. They’ve proven themselves to be a top contender in the AFC and could make a Super Bowl run if they can remain consistent.

Green Bay Packers

Openverse

Green Bay has been in a rebuilding phase since losing Aaron Rodgers, but QB Jordan Love is showing some promise despite struggling a bit with consistency. Though currently struggling near the bottom of the NFC North, we’re not giving up hope for a playoff appearance from the franchise.

Los Angeles Chargers

Openverse

The Chargers have kept us on our toes this season with a mix of satisfying victories and confounding losses. Justin Herbert is leading competently as QB and the team is still figuring out the coaching style of new head coach Jim Harbaugh. We feel confident they can string together some impressive victories to reach the postseason.

Minnesota Vikings

Openverse

After losing rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy before the start of the season, many people thought this year would be a wash for the Minnesota Vikings. But, thanks to a strong defense and solid performances from quarterback Sam Darnold, the Vikings are in the playoff hunt.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Openverse

The Steelers have put in the work this year, and are currently positioned for a promising postseason. QB Russell Wilson has been a fierce leader for the offense, and Pittsburgh remains one of the strongest defenses in the league. If they can keep this momentum, they’ve got a great shot at the playoffs.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have proven themselves as one of the top teams this season, in no small part to a fantastic offense led by Jalen Hurts. With an equally strong defense, they’ve stayed competitive in the NFC East — and are a favorite to reach the playoffs.
