Terry McLaurin Officially Done with The Washington Commanders

Star Receiver Sounds Off on Contract Stalemate

Tensions are boiling over in Washington, and Terry McLaurin is at the center of it all. The Washington Commanders wide receiver is entering the final year of his contract and he’s not happy.

Despite posting career-best numbers in 2024, the team still hasn’t offered the All-Pro a new deal. McLaurin voiced his frustration openly this week, saying,

“Everything that has transpired up until this point has been disappointing and frustrating.”

He’s not demanding a trade, far from it. In fact, McLaurin made it clear:

“I want to be here. I want to make that abundantly clear.”

But his tone suggests that without progress on a contract extension, his commitment could waver.

What It Means for the Washington Commanders

The 29-year-old receiver is coming off his best season yet—82 receptions, 1,096 yards, and 13 touchdowns. It marked his fifth straight 1,000-yard season and his highest touchdown total to date.

From 2020 to 2023, McLaurin consistently delivered, averaging more than 1,090 yards and five touchdowns per year. But now, as he looks for financial security heading into his seventh NFL season, the Commanders’ front office has gone silent.

McLaurin claims the team hasn’t contacted his camp in over a month.

Washington is entering the 2025 season with serious expectations. With rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels under center, maintaining offensive continuity is crucial. Losing or upsetting McLaurin would be a major blow to the team’s chemistry, and to Daniels’ development.

Terry McLaurin skipped minicamp earlier this summer, clearly sending a message. Whether the Washington Commanders receive it is another story.

If Washington Commanders wants to compete for a Super Bowl, it needs to resolve its issues with one of the league’s most consistent and respected receivers, fast.
