10 Teams That Totally Crushed the 2025 NBA Draft

The 2025 NBA Draft had everything: chaos, curveballs, and a whole lot of future All-Stars. While it’s way too early to hand out permanent grades, some teams clearly walked away with bags of gold.

From lucky lottery jumps to late-round steals and everything in between, these 10 teams absolutely nailed draft night. Whether they scored a franchise centerpiece or stockpiled smart picks, they each gave their fanbases a reason to believe.

10. Boston Celtics

The Celtics took Hugo González at No. 28, and it felt like one of those classic “of course they did” moves. The Real Madrid product brings size, shooting, and serious potential to a team that doesn’t need to rush anyone into the spotlight.

9. Oklahoma City Thunder

OKC did what OKC does: draft smart and think long-term. They added Thomas Sorber and flipped Nique Clifford to Sacramento, continuing their trend of adding size, versatility, and more future options to an already stacked young core.

8. Miami Heat

Miami snagged Kasparas Jakučionis at No. 20, and it might just be the kind of sneaky-good pick that makes other teams jealous in a few years. The Lithuanian point guard brings size and skill to a rotation that’s been hunting for a long-term floor general.

7. Brooklyn Nets

The Nets treated the first round like a shopping spree and came away with a little bit of everything. Egor Demin, Nolan Traoré, Ben Saraf, and Danny Wolf give Brooklyn a nice mix of styles and backgrounds to work with moving forward.

6. Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta had a quiet but smart draft night, which isn’t something you hear every year. They landed Asa Newell at No. 23 and grabbed a valuable 2026 first-round pick, keeping the future flexible without sacrificing talent.

5. Phoenix Suns

The Suns caught a break when Khaman Maluach slid to No. 10, and they didn’t hesitate. A legit rim protector with upside, Maluach gives Phoenix some much-needed interior presence and a long-term building block.

4. Utah Jazz

Utah rolled the dice on Ace Bailey at No. 5, and it might just pay off big. They doubled down by adding Will Riley at No. 21, giving them two high-ceiling wings to grow alongside their current core.

3. Philadelphia 76ers

The Sixers grabbed VJ Edgecombe at No. 3, a hyper-athletic guard who should fit in nicely next to their star trio. With his defense and explosiveness, Edgecombe brings instant energy to a team looking to win right now.
