Ranking Every Super Bowl Halftime Show Since 2000 From Worst to Best

The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most anticipated spectacles in entertainment, showcasing some of the biggest names in music. But, since 2000, these performances have ranged from unforgettable to underwhelming.

As we wait to see what Kendrick Lamar has in store for the 2025 Super Bowl, here’s our definitive ranking of every Super Bowl halftime show from the past two decades, from worst to best:

25. Maroon 5 (2019)

While Maroon 5 boasts an impressive catalog of hits, their halftime performance fell flat. Simply put, it lacked energy and felt disjointed. Sadly Adam Levine’s shirtless moment became more meme-worthy than memorable.

24. Black Eyed Peas (2011)

The futuristic visuals couldn’t save this poorly executed performance. Auto-tune issues and awkward choreography left fans disappointed despite the group having a number of very popular hit songs.

23. The Who (2010)

Legendary as they are, The Who’s halftime show struggled to connect with a broader audience. The energy was subdued, and the performance lacked the spectacle expected at the Super Bowl.

22. Shania Twain, No Doubt, and Sting (2003)

While individually talented, the artists’ styles clashed, and the performance lacked cohesion. It was a perfectly fine halftime show, but nothing particularly special.

The Weeknd’s performance was visually very stunning but truthfully, wasn’t all that memorable. It was good at the time, but it’s hard to imagine it’s many people’s favorite of all time.

Returning 14 years after the infamous wardrobe malfunction with Janet Jackson (more on that later), Timberlake’s performance was polished but uninspired. It was fun, but it failed to deliver a truly iconic moment.

18. Aerosmith, NSYNC, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, and Nelly (2001)
