Sophie Cunningham Slammed for ‘Weird’ Behavior Toward Teammate
Sophie Cunningham is on a hot streak with the Indiana Fever, stepping up big-time in Caitlin Clark’s absence. She dropped 17 points in Sunday’s 78-74 win over the Seattle Storm, and has averaged 11.7 points over the past two weeks. But while her on-court performance is getting praise, her off-court behavior is raising eyebrows.
Cunningham recently launched a podcast called “Show Me Something,” where she didn’t hold back on her frustration with WNBA officiating. In the first episode, she said:
“If I was a ref, I know I would mess up all the time… But when it is a simple call right in front of your face multiple times, what are you doing?”

Though many fans appreciated her honesty, another moment is now stirring controversy — a pregame interaction with Sydney Colson.
In a clip making the rounds on social media, Cunningham and Lexie Hull were seen jokingly sitting on Colson as she tried to lace up her sneakers courtside. While some found it harmless, others were less amused.

“This is actually very weird,” one user posted on X.
“Diabolical,” another chimed in.
“That is so childish,” said a third.
“I don’t like this one bit and I’m not debating,” added another.
Despite the criticism, the Fever are currently riding a five-game win streak, and there are no public signs of locker room tension. Most likely, it was just teammates goofing around before a big game.
Still, the viral moment has divided fans. Some say it was all in good fun. Others feel Cunningham may have crossed a line.
What do you think; innocent fun or too far?
