‘Praying for Ohtani’: MLB Fans Fear the Worst After Star’s Sudden Exit

MLB Fans Fear the Worst After Shohei Ohtani Sudden Exit

Shohei Ohtani, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ superstar and baseball’s most iconic two-way player, left fans holding their breath on Wednesday night.

During a matchup against the Cincinnati Reds, Ohtani walked off the mound mid-inning with the team trainer — a chilling sight for fans who know his injury history all too well.

Six Balls, No Strikes and a Lot of Worry

Ohtani had been slowly working his way back to full pitching form in 2025 after missing all of last season due to his second Tommy John surgery. But Wednesday night, something seemed off. In the bottom of the fourth inning, he threw six consecutive balls, with a couple of pitches missing the strike zone badly.

Moments later, Shohei exited the game looking frustrated. Veteran MLB insider Bob Nightengale confirmed the troubling scene on X:

“Shohei Ohtani just walked off the mound with a Dodgers’ trainer after throwing six consecutive balls and looking quite frustrated.”

Fans wasted no time flooding social media with concern and prayers for Ohtani.

“I hate the Dodgers for the salary stuff, but I love Shohei to death. Prayers up,” one fan posted.
“Praying for Ohtani,” another wrote.
“At this point, we’re just praying,” someone added.

At just 30, Ohtani remains one of the game’s most thrilling talents a power hitter and elite pitcher rolled into one. But after two major elbow surgeries and a tough road to recovery, many wonder if this latest scare will push him to focus solely on hitting.

Baseball is simply better when Shohei Ohtani is fully healthy. Now, the entire league and millions of fans are hoping this isn’t the end of his days on the mound.
