NFL Fans Are Hooked on Greenberg’s Replacement On ‘Get Up’

ESPN Fans Say Peter Schrager Is a Game-Changer on ‘Get Up’

With the NFL season just around the corner, ESPN’s Mike Greenberg is taking a well-earned break from hosting duties on Get Up. But his temporary absence has given someone else a shot at the spotlight, Peter Schrager and fans are here for it.

Schrager, who joined ESPN on a multi-year deal earlier this year, is already familiar to football diehards thanks to his role on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. Now stepping into Greenberg’s shoes for the week, Schrager is showing ESPN audiences exactly why he’s such a valued voice in sports media.

“Peter will have an instant impact at ESPN,” said ESPN President of Content Burke Magnus. “His charismatic style and deep NFL knowledge make him a versatile asset across all our platforms.”

On Thursday, Peter Schrager posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the ESPN studio with the caption: “Another great morning on ‘Get Up.’ In for Greeny. Let’s go.” And fans wasted no time singing his praises.

“I don’t think I’m overshooting this when I say… Peter Schrager might SAVE YOUR NETWORK,” one viewer posted on X. “Please keep building around PSchrags with similar talent.”

“Respect and phenomenal job this morning,” another fan chimed in.

“Peter Schrager has been a fantastic hire. Genuinely seems so comfortable filling in for Greeny,” a third added.

In a recent interview on the SI Media with Jimmy Traina podcast, Schrager shared what pushed him to make the leap to ESPN.

“I couldn’t do another ‘Whiteboard Wednesday’… creatively, it was time,” he said. “Once they moved [the show] to L.A., that to me was the writing on the wall.”

As the NFL season ramps up, Peter Schrager’s presence on Get Up and beyond could mark a new chapter for ESPN’s football coverage.
