10 2024 NFL Coaches Most Likely to Get Fired

We’re well over halfway into the 2024 NFL season and for some head coaches, the pressure is mounting. In fact, while there have already been a couple of head coaches who’ve been fired (au revoir Robert Saleh and Dennis Allen!), more firings could happen before the end of the season. Here are the 10 NFL coaches who are currently on the hot seat.

10. Mike McDaniel — Miami Dolphins

Openverse

Before people start freaking out, Dolphins’ Mike McDaniel is not getting fired this year. But, that’s not to say things weren’t rocky for the fan-favorite head coach when they were without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. However, the Dolphins have one of the easiest schedules remaining, so there’s a good chance they could finish the season with a decent record.

9. Dave Canales — Carolina Panthers

David Canales is in his first season coaching the Carolina Panthers, so the odds of him being fired are very slim. Not to mention, he inherited a situation that required a complete rebuild. However, the season has still been very poor for the Panthers and there’s no question Canales will have a shorter leash come next year.

8. Todd Bowles — Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started out the season with a lot of optimism, but things haven’t been as great recently. While head coach Todd Bowles has done a decent job with the team and quarterback Baker Mayfield, patience may be wearing thin for Tampa fans.

7. Kevin Stefanski — Cleveland Browns

Openverse

This season has been a complete and utter disaster for the Cleveland Browns and head coach Kevin Stefanski isn’t entirely to blame. However, one has to wonder if he’s the right man to lead this team forward in the future.

6. Zac Taylor — Cincinnati Bengals

Openverse

Quarterback Joe Burrow is having an MVP type of season and yet the Cincinnati Bengals are currently 4-7 and almost certainly not going to make the playoffs. This team is extremely talented, but something is just not clicking and one has to wonder whether the man in charge is to blame.

5. Antonio Pierce — Las Vegas Raiders

Openverse

The Las Vegas Raiders are a bad football team, and despite changing coordinators and trying to make improvements, head coach Antonio Pierce has found himself under some serious pressure. The Raiders franchise has undergone a lot of changes in recent years, so ownership may be reluctant to make yet another change so soon, but if they continue to lose more games in a row, they may have to.

4. Brian Daboll — New York Giants

Openverse

Brian Daboll has a serious quarterback problem (which the Giants are currently in the process of fixing), but the team has looked dreadful all year. The Giants don’t make rash decisions, but don’t be surprised if they decide to make a change following the season.

3. Doug Pederson — Jacksonville Jaguars

Openverse

The writing is on the wall for Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson. The team has been struggling all season, and while their recent losses may be attributed to being without the injured Trevor Lawrence, it’s clear they have bigger problems at hand.

2. Mike McCarthy — Dallas Cowboys

Openverse

Mike McCarthy’s days as the Dallas Cowboys head coach are numbered. Despite having a decent regular season record throughout his time as the Cowboys head coach, McCarthy’s playoff record has been bad (to say the least). But, now that the Cowboys also have a bad regular season record, owner Jerry Jones may finally decide to cut the cord for good.

Following the Chicago Bears’ terrible clock management in their loss to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, head coach Matt Eberflus has officially been fired. And, truthfully, this has been a long time coming. Let’s see if whoever the Bears bring in next can get this team on track.
