Nabers Praises Daniels’ Work Ethic and Leadership
Malik Nabers, wide receiver for the New York Giants, recently opened up about his friendship with Jayden Daniels, quarterback for the Washington Commanders. During his appearance on the 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony podcast, Nabers spoke highly of his former LSU teammate. The two shared the field at LSU from 2021 to 2023 and built a strong bond both on and off the field.
Nabers was selected as the sixth overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, while Daniels went second overall to the Commanders. Despite now being on different teams, Nabers made it clear that their friendship remains strong.
“I know his work ethic, and I know the work he’s put into it and I know how much of a teammate he is. That’s still my brother for life,” Nabers said. “I’m not changing who I am just because I play on this team. It’s never going to happen.”
Nabers emphasized Daniels’ leadership qualities, noting that he had always been someone the LSU players looked up to because of his maturity and commitment.
Unfortunately for Nabers, his debut season with the Giants comes after a rough 2024 campaign for the team. The Giants won just three games and lost 14, finishing last in the NFC East. Their season ended with a 20–13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Nabers Defends Shedeur Sanders’ Draft Slide
In the same podcast episode, Malik Nabers also shared his thoughts on Shedeur Sanders’ draft position. Sanders was once considered a top quarterback prospect but was ultimately selected in the fifth round as the 144th pick. Nabers didn’t hold back in his criticism of how the young quarterback was treated during the draft process.
He argued that Sanders’ drop had little to do with performance. Nabers pointed out that even with a weak offensive line, Sanders had an impressive completion percentage. In his view, outside noise and bias influenced the selection more than actual football ability.
Nabers also hinted that the backlash toward Sanders stems from his family’s fame. “They’re getting hate for doing everything right,” he said, defending both Shedeur and his father, Deion Sanders.
Nabers’ comments reflect growing concern from players about how media narratives and public perception can affect young prospects. His loyalty to both Daniels and Sanders shows a strong sense of fraternity, something that may fuel his own motivation going into his rookie season with the Giants.
