Mike Florio Slams Jerry Jones for Broken Trade Promise
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is under fire from Mike Florio after failing to follow through on his pre-draft trade promise. Just two days before the 2025 NFL Draft, Jones teased reporters with claims of “two pretty substantive trades” that could happen “before or after the draft.” Now, more than a week after the draft ended, not a single deal has materialized.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk didn’t mince words:
“Two days before the draft started, Jones grabbed the spotlight by claiming that he was working on ‘two pretty substantive trades’… One week and one day since the draft ended, we’re still waiting. It’s almost as if he never even said it.”
Florio criticized Jones not only for the empty promise but also for the broader lack of urgency. The Cowboys had a relatively quiet offseason. Aside from internal staff changes like promoting Brian Schottenheimer, no big free-agent signings or impactful trades took place.

Dak Prescott’s Injury Adds Pressure to a Disappointing Offseason
The criticism doesn’t stop with Florio. Cowboys fans have voiced their frustration as well, accusing Jones of being more showman than serious contender.
“Fans and media have begun to wake up to the notion that Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones is more carnival barker than trophy chaser,” Mike Florio added. “It’s not about winning, it’s about being interesting.”
Meanwhile, concerns are growing over quarterback Dak Prescott’s health. The 31-year-old is recovering from a partial hamstring avulsion—an injury where the tendon partially tore off the bone. Prescott suffered the injury in Week 9 and has spent the offseason rehabbing.
In his own words:
“It’s about moving forward healthy to make sure I can play 17 times, 20 [games], whatever we get to when the time’s right,” Prescott said.
With his health in question, fans expected the Cowboys to beef up their offensive line or at least secure a solid backup quarterback. Neither has happened, raising alarms ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Analyst Mo Morton labeled the Cowboys the “biggest offseason loser” in the NFC East. Between a silent trade market as called out by Mike Florio and concerns around their starting quarterback, the team’s direction seems unclear. Unless Jones makes a late move or Prescott returns at full strength, Dallas may fall short of playoff expectations once again. And this time the Fans may not take it easy on the Management. As per the standard of the Team.
