Lieberman Reacts After Caitlin Clark Shines in Win Over Wings
Following the Indiana Fever’s dominant 102–83 win over the Dallas Wings on Sunday, Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman spoke out about a growing concern around rookie star Caitlin Clark — not about her game, but the way she’s being treated by her peers.
Lieberman’s comments on the WNBA All-Star voting results, where Clark earned a record-setting 1.2 million fan votes, securing her spot as an All-Star captain. Yet, despite that overwhelming fan support, she ranked just ninth among fellow players, a puzzling placement for the league’s biggest draw.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Lieberman didn’t hold back.
“If she happens to be the cash cow right now, embrace it,” she said. “Don’t be petty. She’s the best guard in the league right now. Her numbers have proven it.”
“Celebrate Each Other, Don’t Act Like Enemies“
Lieberman believes the snub reflects more than just oversight, suggesting some WNBA players may be letting jealousy cloud their judgment. She compared Clark’s rapid rise to global icons like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods, calling her a generational talent.
“Celebrate each other instead of acting like enemies,” Lieberman advised. “This league needs unity, not division.”
To her point, Clark continues to put up stellar numbers. After missing time earlier in the season with quad and groin injuries, she’s now averaging 18.2 points and 8.9 assists per game. Against the Wings, she logged a double-double with 14 points and 13 assists, helping five Fever players score in double digits and showing exactly why fans continue to rally behind her.
Lieberman acknowledged that other stars like Angel Reese, Sabrina Ionescu, and Paige Bueckers are having outstanding seasons as well. But she emphasized the need for mutual support among elite competitors.
“This isn’t about who gets more shine, it’s about what’s best for the league,” she said.
Whether or not every player is ready to celebrate her rise, Caitlin Clark isn’t slowing down. She’s already made history as the fastest WNBA guard to reach 100 assists in a season, and she’ll now lead her team into All-Star Weekend under the brightest spotlight yet.
“Just go out and ball,” Lieberman concluded. “Play the game.”
