10 Positions the Kansas City Chiefs Need to Address in the 2025 Off-Season

The Kansas City Chiefs’ quest for a historic three-peat came to a crushing end with their 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Now as the team looks ahead to the 2025 season, several key areas require attention to maintain their competitive edge.

The Chiefs will have to navigate a tight salary cap situation, so they’ll need to be creative in addressing these positions. But, with four picks in the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft, Kansas City has an opportunity to infuse young talent into the roster. Here are 10 positions the Chiefs need to address this off-season:

1. Left Tackle

The offensive line’s struggles were glaringly evident in the Super Bowl, with Patrick Mahomes facing relentless pressure. Upgrading the left tackle position is crucial to protect Mahomes’ blindside. The Chiefs may consider drafting a prospect like Ohio State’s Josh Simmons or exploring free agency options, albeit with limited cap space.

2. Right Guard

With Trey Smith set to hit free agency, retaining him or finding a suitable replacement is vital. Smith has been a cornerstone of the Chiefs’ offensive line, and his departure would create a significant void.

3. Wide Receiver

The potential departures of DeAndre Hopkins, Hollywood Brown, and other receivers leave the Chiefs thin at this position. While Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice show promise, acquiring a proven No. 1 receiver should be a priority.

4. Tight End

Travis Kelce

If Travis Kelce retires, finding his successor becomes imperative. The Chiefs may explore free agency options like Juwan Johnson or Austin Hooper to bolster their tight end corps, or look for an option in the 2025 Draft.

5. Linebacker

Nick Bolton’s impending free agency leaves a hole in the defense. The Chiefs must decide whether to re-sign Bolton or seek a cost-effective replacement through the draft or free agency.

6. Defensive Tackle
