Jake Paul Calls Out Boxing’s Biggest Names After Chavez Win

Jake Paul returned to the ring Saturday night and made easy work of a fading Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., coasting to a lopsided unanimous decision at the Honda Center in Anaheim. While the crowd rained down boos, Paul delivered a clear message: he’s coming for boxing’s elite.

Paul Controls Fight, Chavez Shows No Fire

The matchup felt lopsided from the start. Chavez Jr., once a world champion, barely threw punches in the early rounds. His father, Mexican legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., watched in disbelief as Paul jabbed and hooked his way to a comfortable win with judges’ scores of 99-91, 98-92, and 97-93.

Paul mocked the crowd post-fight and said, “It was flawless… I think I only got hit 10 times. Easy work.” But fans and analysts were quick to point out that the Chavez he beat was far removed from his championship days. And is plagued by weight issues, discipline problems, and a lack of drive.

What This Win Means for Jake Paul’s Boxing Career

With the win, Paul improves to 12-1 and has now defeated a list of aging opponents that includes a 58-year-old Mike Tyson and now Chavez Jr. Yet Paul isn’t shy about his next move, calling out world champions like Gilberto Ramirez and Badou Jack. And even tossing out big names like Anthony Joshua and Gervonta Davis.

The issue? Boxing purists aren’t buying it. But under current WBC rules, Paul would need to crack the top 15 rankings to qualify for a title shot, and many fighters ahead of him; like Viddal Riley and Cheavon Clarke.

Is a Title Shot Realistic or Just More Hype?

Despite his controversial rise, Paul has brought attention and new fans to the sport. His Most Valuable Promotions brand has even supported women’s boxing. But critics argue that beating aging names doesn’t justify a world title shot.

If Paul truly wants respect in the boxing world, he’ll need to step in with an active, ranked fighter. Because while his brand continues to grow, his in-ring credibility is still very much up for debate.
