Indiana Fever React After Caitlin Clark Breaks Down Former Teammate

Caitlin Clark Shines in Matchup with Ex-Teammate Wheeler

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever had more than just a win on their minds during Tuesday night’s road game against the Seattle Storm. It marked Clark’s first clash with Erica Wheeler, a former Fever starter who joined Seattle this offseason.

Midway through the third quarter, Caitlin Clark put her stamp on the game, and it came at Wheeler’s expense. The rookie guard found herself one-on-one with Wheeler at the top of the arc. A quick behind-the-back dribble and a sharp cut to the left left her former teammate behind, giving Clark a clear path for an easy layup and an eight-point lead.

Fever’s Subtle Message After the Highlight

The Fever wasted no time highlighting the moment. On X (formerly Twitter), the team posted the clip with a cheeky caption:

“Caitlin Clark wheelin’ and dealin’ to start Q3.”

The pun didn’t go unnoticed. The message playfully referenced Wheeler, who had started for Indiana last season before Caitlin Clark’s arrival altered the guard rotation.

Since joining Seattle, Wheeler has played well, recently cracking the starting lineup and averaging 11.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists through 14 games.

What’s Next for Clark and the Fever?

Despite Clark’s flashy moves, Tuesday’s game capped a tough three-game road trip for the Fever. Now, they return home to host the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday as they aim to bounce back and regain momentum.

As Caitlin Clark continues to face off against seasoned WNBA veterans, including former teammates, every game adds another chapter to her growing legacy.
