Iga Swiatek Shuts Down Media After Historic Wimbledon Win: “Leave Me Alone”

Swiatek Silences Critics With Stunning Wimbledon Victory

Iga Swiatek made history at Wimbledon this weekend, demolishing Amanda Anisimova 6-0 in just 57 minutes to win her first Wimbledon title and sixth Grand Slam overall. The win also completes her career slam across all surfaces.

But while the tennis world celebrated, the 23-year-old had a pointed message for the media, particularly those in her home country.

“I hope they will just leave me alone and let me do my job,” Swiatek said after the match.

Swiatek Opens Up About Media Scrutiny

Swiatek has faced heavy scrutiny this season following a 13-month title drought and a controversial coaching change to Wim Fissette. On top of that, her one-month ban from the sport last year added fuel to media speculation around her form.

“The way the media, especially the Polish media, described me and my team, it wasn’t pleasant,” she shared. “I have already proved a lot. I know people want more and more, but this is my life and my career.”

Her message was clear: let athletes breathe. Despite the noise, Swiatek stayed locked in, rising above the pressure to deliver a flawless performance on Centre Court.

Career Slam Complete as Swiatek Conquers Grass

Until this weekend, Wimbledon had been the elusive piece of the puzzle for Swiatek, who had never advanced beyond the quarter-finals. With her dominant win, she now has titles on clay, hard, and grass, adding Wimbledon to her four French Opens and one US Open.

“I feel like tennis keeps surprising me,” Swiatek said. “And I keep surprising myself.”

Her performance was ruthless, showcasing the complete evolution of her game, even on a surface she once doubted.

Swiatek’s emotional win was capped off by receiving the trophy from the Princess of Wales, a moment she described as “surreal.”

“Since I’m a kid, I’ve been a big fan of the Royal Family,” she said. “Getting the trophy from Her Royal Highness was amazing.”

Amanda Anisimova Overwhelmed in the Final

Anisimova, who was playing her first Grand Slam final after a remarkable comeback from an eight-month mental health break, struggled to find her rhythm. Swiatek’s relentless pace and precision left little room for error.

Still, the American’s journey back to the top of the sport was one of the feel-good stories of the tournament.

With six major titles now under her belt, Iga Swiatek is firmly entrenched as the face of women’s tennis. But her post-match comments were a reminder that even champions need space to grow.

Whether critics back off or not, one thing’s for sure, Swiatek is doing just fine.
