‘He’s Not That Guy Yet’: Simms, McCoy Rip Shedeur Sanders’ Draft Behavior

Shedeur Sanders is under fire again, and this time, the criticism is coming from some of the biggest voices in football. Both Super Bowl champion LeSean McCoy and NFL analyst Chris Simms have publicly challenged the Colorado quarterback’s draft outlook and attitude, calling into question his readiness for the next level.

McCoy: Shedeur Sanders Isn’t a “Generational Talent”

During a recent appearance on FS1’s Speak, LeSean McCoy didn’t hold back when assessing Shedeur Sanders’ NFL potential. While many have hyped Sanders as a future star, McCoy thinks that praise is premature.

“I don’t see generational talent… I don’t see it,” McCoy said. “We throw that term around way too often.”

McCoy clarified that while Shedeur Sanders is talented, he’s not on the same level as top quarterback prospects like Caleb Williams or Drake Maye. According to McCoy, those players display a different level of polish — something Sanders hasn’t consistently shown on the field.

“He’s good,” McCoy added. “But we’re talking about great.”

Chris Simms: Sanders Is to Blame for His Draft Nightmare

If questions about talent weren’t enough, Chris Simms raised another concern — Sanders’ approach to the NFL Draft itself. In a blunt analysis, Simms argued that Shedeur Sanders’ draft stock dropped because of his own actions and attitude.

“You can’t just disrespect the process and think you’re going to get praised for it,” Simms said.

Simms criticized Sanders for reportedly being selective about which teams he would consider playing for. He suggested that kind of entitlement could turn off NFL franchises and damage the quarterback’s long-term prospects. In Simms’s view, Sanders’s focus should be on growth, not control.

“You’re not a star yet,” Simms said. “Act like a guy who wants to earn it.”

Sanders’ Opportunity with the Cleveland Browns

Despite the critiques, Sanders now has an opportunity to prove himself with the Cleveland Browns. The team traded up to select him, indicating their belief in his potential. Sanders expressed gratitude for the opportunity and is determined to demonstrate his value at the professional level.

“Thank you GOD,” Sanders posted following his selection.”

The Browns’ decision to draft Sanders, even after selecting another quarterback earlier in the draft, suggests they see potential in him to contribute to the team’s future success .

But after sharp words from both McCoy and Simms, the message is clear: Shedeur Sanders still has plenty to prove. To secure his spot as a future franchise quarterback, he’ll need more than confidence. He’ll need to win and grow the right way.
