Dallas Cowboys Trade Rumors: Stephen Jones Hints at More Moves After George Pickens Deal

After a relatively quiet offseason, the Dallas Cowboys appear to be turning up the heat. Following their surprise trade for wide receiver George Pickens, Executive Vice President Stephen Jones made it clear that the team still has moves to make.

“We’re never done,” Jones said in a recent interview. “365 days a year is player acquisition, and if we see something that improves our football team, we’d make the move.”

That statement comes after weeks of criticism. Many fans and analysts felt the Cowboys weren’t being aggressive enough, especially after losing star guard Zack Martin to retirement and skipping over top running back prospect Omarion Hampton in the draft.

Acquiring D.J. Reader could be the final puzzle piece Dallas adds to put finishing touches on a productive offseason.

Unfortunately, the move doesn’t come without some risks. Reader, now into his 30s and entering his 10th NFL season, has dealt with some concerning lower-body injuries.

The bright side here is that Dallas probably wouldn’t have to give up much in a trade. One Day 3 draft pick could to the trick.

Instead of flashy signings, Dallas went for depth over star power, drawing frustration from fans who expected immediate upgrades. While the Pickens trade adds another weapon for Dak Prescott, concerns remain about the team’s urgency and long-term strategy.

Dallas Cowboys EVP Shares Update on Micah Parsons’ Contract

The Cowboys are also facing pressure to lock down their biggest defensive star. When asked about Micah Parsons’ contract status, Jones admitted it’s still a work in progress.

“It’s never easy to comment on them,” he said. “You don’t know where you are until both sides are ready to go. But our goal is to keep Micah here long term.”

Drafted 12th overall in 2021, Parsons has become a cornerstone of the Cowboys’ defense, earning two All-Pro selections and cementing his status as one of the league’s top pass rushers.

With training camp approaching, fans will be watching closely to see if Dallas makes another splash. Whether it’s shoring up the offensive line or extending a franchise player like Parsons, the next few weeks could define the Cowboys’ 2025 campaign.

The message from Dallas is clear: more roster changes are coming, and keeping their elite talent remains a top priority.
