Cavaliers Sweep Heat in Historic Blowout, Warriors Escape Rockets

In a stunning display of dominance, the Cleveland Cavaliers finished off the Miami Heat in Game 4, winning 138–83 and completing a 4–0 series sweep. The victory was not only a statement but also the largest margin of victory in a first-round series in NBA playoff history. Cleveland’s performance was powered by a stellar showing from their backcourt, with Donovan Mitchell leading the charge with 22 points, 5 assists, and relentless defensive pressure. Meanwhile, Darius Garland added 17 points and orchestrated the offense with poise.

The Cavaliers’ bench also played a crucial role. De’Andre Hunter contributed 19 points, and the team showed off their depth, particularly in transition play, where they outpaced the Heat at nearly every turn. The Cavaliers also dominated the boards, out-rebounding Miami 45 to 30. Cleveland’s defense was equally impressive, forcing turnovers and capitalizing on second-chance opportunities throughout the game.

On the other side, Miami’s offense struggled in ways that ultimately sealed their fate in the series. Nikola Jovic led the Heat with 24 points, but his efforts were often overshadowed by inefficient shooting. Bam Adebayo chipped in with a double-double, but the Heat simply couldn’t generate consistent offense. Tyler Herro had a particularly tough night, scoring just 4 points on 1-of-10 shooting, which left Miami’s attack stagnant. Despite the blowout loss, the Heat’s early series victories were marked by notable controversies, with officiating decisions under scrutiny.

Warriors Narrowly Defeat Rockets in Controversial Game 4

In the Western Conference, Game 4 between the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets provided a thrilling but tense finish. The Warriors held on to win 109–106, taking a 3–1 series lead in a game marred by controversial officiating and intense physicality.

The drama began late in the game when Draymond Green received a flagrant-1 foul for his contact with Tari Eason’s head. The hit, though unintentional, led to a heated debate on social media and among analysts. Many felt the contact was a clear example of unnecessary roughness, especially considering Green’s history of past altercations. However, the referees allowed him to stay in the game, and the Warriors capitalized on their advantage.

With the game winding down, the Rockets made a late push but couldn’t close the gap, largely due to missed free throws and poor shooting in the final minutes. Houston’s star, Jalen Green, had 28 points but struggled with consistency in crunch time, as the Rockets couldn’t convert in key moments. Despite the controversy, the Warriors’ experience in tight playoff scenarios ultimately won out, with Stephen Curry scoring 19 points and Jimmy Butler adding 27 points to seal the win. Houston’s late-game blunders highlighted their ongoing struggles against a championship-caliber team. The Rockets will need to find a way to regroup and bounce back in Game 5 if they hope to force a Game 6 and stay alive in the series.

What’s Next for the NBA Playoffs?

Both the Cavaliers and Warriors are showing why they are favorites in their respective conferences. Cleveland’s dominance over the Heat is a reminder of their well-rounded game, while the Warriors continue to prove their resilience in the face of controversy and challenges. However, both teams still have a long road ahead, and the stakes will only rise as the playoffs continue.

Game 5 in the series promises even more drama as the Cavaliers rest in preparation for the next round, and the Warriors aim to close out the Rockets. All eyes will be on how the NBA handles the increasing scrutiny over officiating, as these postseason controversies continue to shape the narrative.
