Candace Parker ‘Scary’ Take on Caitlin Clark’s Return

Caitlin Clark’s Return Could Shake the WNBA

Candace Parker sees a storm brewing — and its name is Caitlin Clark. The WNBA legend didn’t mince words while discussing the Indiana Fever star’s latest injury break, calling her eventual return a “scary” development for the rest of the league.

Clark has missed 18 games this season, including her third injury layoff since July. Despite the absence, the Fever have stayed competitive, racking up wins with standout efforts from Aaliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aari McDonald. But Parker believes Caitlin Clark’s time off might be giving her a dangerous edge.

Speaking on the Post Moves podcast, the three-time WNBA champion shared insight from her own experience of watching from the sidelines. “Caitlin is one of those people that has a high IQ,” Parker said. “I know she’s watching and I know she’s going to come back and make [the team] all that much better.”

Parker emphasized that while others have stepped up, Caitlin Clark’s ability to observe and analyze from the bench could make her even more impactful once she returns. “That’s scary,” she said. “Because not only are you allowing other people to step up, but you’re allowing Caitlin to survey and realize where she can add.”

Even in a season filled with injuries, Caitlin Clark has posted solid numbers, 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5 rebounds per game. Her shooting efficiency sits at 44.1%, a figure Parker believes she’ll improve now that she’s seen how the team operates without her.

Bottom line: The Indiana Fever have grown stronger in Clark’s absence, and with her return on the horizon, the rest of the WNBA should be on high alert.
