Candace Parker Defends Caitlin Clark, Calls Out Media Over ‘Tiring’ WNBA Narratives

Candace Parker Praises Caitlin Clark, Criticizes Media Spin Around WNBA Rivalry

Candace Parker has had enough of the noise. The WNBA legend weighed in on the constant headlines surrounding Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, making it clear during her recent appearance on the All Facts No Brakes podcast: it’s time to focus on basketball.

“The narrative behind women’s sports is so interesting,” Parker said. “They want to judge you for everything other than basketball… and then, when it’s convenient, judge you for basketball. So it’s like, you can’t win.”

Clark and Reese Are Helping the Game, Not Hurting It

The Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese rivalry has dominated the conversation ever since their 2023 NCAA showdown. But according to Parker, the real issue isn’t the players, it’s the way the media spins their interactions.

Parker asked a powerful question: “Can we just make it about basketball?”

She then answered it herself with strong praise for both players:

  • Have [Clark and Reese] grown the game? 100%.
  • Has their rivalry helped in that? 100%.
  • Is Caitlin Clark a freaking baller? 100%.
  • Is she a generational player? Yes.
  • Is she fun to watch? Absolutely.

Still, Parker admits it’s “an interesting dynamic” how these women are scrutinized for everything. From their body language to their social media, their incredible talent often gets pushed to the background.

Let the Game Speak

Parker’s take adds valuable perspective from someone who’s lived it. Her message is simple but powerful: let Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and all WNBA players be known for their skills, not for the controversies crafted around them.

As Parker put it, “Let’s make it about winning and losing.”
