Calls Mount for Fever to Shut Down Caitlin Clark After Injury Scare

Caitlin Clark helped lead the Indiana Fever to an 85–77 win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night. But fans left with more concern than celebration.

With under a minute remaining and the win in hand, Caitlin Clark suddenly grabbed the inside of her right leg and exited the game. Cameras showed the 23-year-old on the bench, visibly emotional and covering her head with a towel. Many believe she may have aggravated the groin injury that sidelined her for five straight games earlier this summer.

Social media exploded within minutes of the incident. A wave of fans urged the Fever to take a conservative approach with their star guard even if it means shutting her down for the rest of the year.

“I wish she would rest for the remainder of the season,” one fan posted on X.
“Agree. Shut her down. The team will get into the playoffs,” another replied.
“Just shut the season down,” another supporter added bluntly.

The tone was clear: protect Clark at all costs.

Will the Fever Shut Her Down?

The Fever previously took a cautious approach when Clark first suffered the groin injury, holding her out for two weeks to ensure a full recovery. Now that there’s a possibility she re-injured the same area, and with the WNBA All-Star Game looming, the pressure is on the team to prioritize her long-term health over short-term success.

Even though the Fever are finally building momentum with an 11–10 record, fans are more focused on Caitlin Clark’s future than chasing a playoff seed.

Whether Indiana will make the bold call to shut her down is still unclear, but this latest injury scare has clearly changed the conversation.
