Calls Mount for Aaron Boone Sack After Max Fried Comments

Aaron Boone Faces Firing Calls

The New York Yankees were flying high just a few weeks ago, comfortably leading the AL East. But baseball has a way of humbling even the best. After losing 14 games in June, a demoralizing 12-5 blowout to the Toronto Blue Jays has pushed fans to the edge. And Aaron Boone is feeling the heat.

It wasn’t just the scoreline that stung. It was Boone’s reaction afterward that rubbed fans the wrong way, especially his surprising criticism of Max Fried. Boone commented, “They pressured him a little bit today. I don’t necessarily think it was his best stuff.” That slight jab at Fried, known for his 1.92 ERA, caught fans off guard, especially since Boone typically defends his players.

But Fried wasn’t the biggest issue. The Yankees went 2 for 17 with runners in scoring position, stranded 11, and made critical defensive errors. Still, Boone’s vague comments and lack of accountability, particularly his refusal to call out poor defense from players like Jazz Chisholm, have pushed fans to demand change.

Yankees Fans Have Had Enough

Social media erupted following the game. One user called for both Boone and GM Brian Cashman to be fired, echoing a sentiment that’s been brewing in the Bronx. Boone’s refusal to bench Chisholm despite a -2 OAA, while DJ LeMahieu rides the bench, has made fans question his decision-making.

One fan vented, “Jazz stinks! Why is Boone protecting him?” Another said they’re tired of Boone’s “calm and composed” demeanor while the season slips away.

The Yankees were supposed to be contenders. Even without Juan Soto, the roster is loaded. But 16 games without a break and a stretch of mental mistakes have fans feeling betrayed. Boone’s postgame deflections just add fuel to the fire.

What’s Next?

The All-Star break could provide a much-needed reset, and the Yankees will be aggressive buyers at the trade deadline. Infield and pitching help are on the wishlist. But whether Boone is the right manager to lead this team back to the top is now a serious question.
