Angel Reese Held to Locker Room Standards Amid Sky Struggle

Angel Reese Locker Room Discipline Amid Sky’s Rough 5–11 Start

Angel Reese entered the WNBA like a tidal wave, grabbing headlines, racking up rebounds, and rocking red carpets. But amid her All-Star buzz and viral moments, the Chicago Sky’s ‘barbie’ has been battling on-court challenges that have tested her discipline and development.

Through the Sky’s 5–11 skid to start the season, Angel Reese has averaged a stellar 12.3 rebounds per game, leading the league in boards and notching 10 straight double-doubles. Yet, issues like turnovers and inconsistent offensive rhythm have plagued both her and the team. One game even saw her lead Chicago in giveaways, drawing concerns from coach Tyler Marsh.

Reese’s Growth Sparked by Veteran Advice

In recent weeks, though, a more polished version of Angel Reese has emerged. In a 92–85 win over the Sparks, Reese posted a season-high 24 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists, showing her evolution as a playmaker.

Angel Reese credits the shift to tips from vets like Alyssa Thomas, who emphasized the impact of her facilitating. “They were telling me something like, when I get more assists… we have a higher chance of winning,” Angel Reese said. “We have great shooters… I’m really happy to see that we’re going upwards.”

She’s begun playing smarter, with fewer mistakes and better reads, proving she can elevate others, not just herself.

All-Star Votes Raise Eyebrows Despite Selection

While Reese secured an All-Star selection, the voting results revealed a reality check. She finished fifth in fan votes, but just 12th among players and media, leading to a weighted score of 7.75—a far cry from the top-tier picks like Caitlin Clark, Napheesa Collier, and A’ja Wilson.

Still, the Sky forward will join the July 19 All-Star Game in Indianapolis, giving her another stage to prove she belongs among the league’s elite.

As the Sky look to climb out of the Eastern Conference basement, the big question is: Will Angel Reese keep evolving into the team’s emotional and tactical leader, or shift into a high-volume scorer role?

Either way, she’s no longer just flashy headlines. Angel Reese is learning what it takes to win at the pro level and the WNBA is watching.
