10 years ago, the world lost one of it’s brightest stars. Let’s honor the late great Robin Williams by remembering some of his best films.
10. Patch Adams
We all remember the iconic clown nose-wearing doctor. In this movie, Williams played the titular character who has a kind heart and undying devotion to his patients. The film gets depressing, but the overall message is uplifting.
9. Flubber
I know this is one of Robin Williams’ stranger film endeavors (however, nowhere near THE strangest) but it is also one of his most iconic. Viewers relate to his intelligent yet scatterbrained scientist character, Professor Philip Brainard. And let’s be real, we would totally build a robot best friend if we could. Watch this movie while playing with green slime.
8. Jumanji
We all love a good adventure film. And this movie is filled to the brim with adventure. Viewers will not only enjoy the non-stop action of this fun family film. They will also enjoy the subtle sentimentality of the story telling.
Now if only someone could roll a five or an eight.
7. Mrs. Doubtfire
In this film Williams plays Daniel Hillard. The sweet and sociable, yet somewhat self-pitying main character who effortlessly takes on the persona of Scottish nanny so that he can spend more time with his kids. No one else could have played this role as well as Robin Williams. Daniel can be toxic at times, but his motivations are understandable. Williams is hilarious in the role and the film teaches a great lesson of accepting what cannot be changed.
6. Good Morning Vietnam
Viewers will love this wartime film featuring Robin Williams as the lively comic relief Adrian Cronauer. After watching this poignant film and Williams’ nuanced performance, you will feel enlightened as well as entertained. You will never be able to hear the film’s titular catchphrase without smiling.

5. Hook
Some of us just like to let our imaginations run wild. And we can do that while watching this stunning sequel/reimagining of Peter Pan. Viewers will relate to Williams’ character Peter Banning’s need for a return to his fantastical childhood home after living his stressful and unsatisfying adulthood. This movie will make you belly laugh one minute and then break your heart the next.
4. The Birdcage
We are schmecken for schnecken! Lovers of musical theater will adore this film based on the musical La Cage aux Folles. This film tells the story of a young man trying to impress his fiancée’s stuffy, conservative family by hiding the fact that he was raised by two dads. But thankfully, he learns that a loving family is nothing to be ashamed of. Viewers will enjoy Williams’ loving yet no-nonsense character and they will also love the warm-hearted message of the film.
3. Dead Poets Society
In this film, Williams plays a passionate English teacher whose unorthodox methods inspire and encourage his students. This movie is sweet, sincere, and so incredibly heartbreaking. Williams’ performance will move you and inspire you.

2. Good Will Hunting
Fans of Robin Williams will absolutely adore this film about Will, janitor who is secretly a math prodigy. To avoid jail time after assaulting an officer he agrees to study mathematics at the college he works for and to attend therapy. Williams plays a therapist who helps Will reflect on his life and inner demons. He has some of the most poignant lines in the movie.
1. Aladdin
This is not only one of Williams’ most iconic films, but it is also one of the best animated feature films to come out of the 90s. Viewers will not only love the romance between a princess and a street rat, but they will love watching the Genie steal every scene with hilarious jokes and references.
We will never forget this film or the Genie.
