10. Alice in Wonderland

Written by Lewis Carroll

If you want your kids to read the classics, you can’t go wrong with Alice in Wonderland. Children will enjoy getting lost in Carroll’s fantastical world. Since it was written over 100 years ago the language is a tad confusing, so I recommend that grownups read the story with their kids to help them understand. You can even do silly voices for each of the characters.

This young adult series is for the teenagers who want to read YA romance more than they want to read fantasy. Vampire Kisses is a young adult vampire series that actually predates Twilight. Unlike Twilight, this book series doesn’t take itself too seriously. It tells the story of a goth girl named Raven who has always wanted to be a vampire. And when a handsome vampire moves to town, she sees this as her chance to make her dreams come true. This series is fun, innocently romantic, and more humorous and campy than it is edgy.
