Tom Brady’s Subtle Jab at Ex-Wife Sparks a ‘Great Parent’ Debate

Tom Brady Reflects on Fatherhood

In a recent newsletter to fans, Tom Brady appeared to subtly address his highly publicized split from Gisele Bündchen, suggesting that his dedication to football was part of being a committed parent, not a neglectful one.

Brady wrote, “I think part of being a great father is being a great example of doing what it takes to take care of your family. I chose to do it by playing football.”

The statement sparked speculation that he may have been addressing past criticisms from Bündchen, who had urged the former NFL star to retire out of concern for his health and to spend more time with their family.

A Message Rooted in Football and Family

Brady and Bündchen divorced in 2022 after 13 years of marriage. At the time, reports suggested that Brady’s decision to return to the NFL after a short retirement contributed to tensions at home. Bündchen publicly expressed concern about his safety and the lack of family time.

Now, Brady seems to be offering his perspective:

“Reading bedtime stories and helping them with homework are not the only ways to be a great parent. And neither is winning Super Bowls or MVPs.”

He added that showing up every day, staying committed, and providing through hard work were his way of setting an example for his children.

Brady Admits He’s Not a Perfect Parent

Brady acknowledged that parenting isn’t about perfection.

“You won’t be perfect. Nobody is,” he said. “But if you stay committed to your goals… then you can be confident that you are living a life of integrity and purpose.”

The NFL legend also touched on the backlash from his controversial Netflix roast, which included jokes about his divorce. Brady later admitted it impacted his children more than expected, calling it a personal “[expletive] up” as a father.

Since their separation, Bündchen has moved forward with her new partner Joaquim Valente, welcoming a child with him earlier this year. Meanwhile, Brady continues to publicly reflect on his role as a father, partner, and public figure.

Whether his recent comments were a jab or just an honest reflection. They’ve reignited conversations about what it really means to be a “great parent.” And how co-parenting can carry different definitions for different people.
