ESPN Proposes Bold Fever Trade Ahead of Deadline

Fever Linked to Myisha Hines-Allen Deal

With the WNBA trade deadline fast approaching on August 7, media outlets and fans alike are speculating about possible roster shake-ups. ESPN’s Kevin Pelton joined the discussion Monday with four trade scenarios and one features the Indiana Fever.

The proposal? Send Damiris Dantas and a second-round pick to the Dallas Wings in exchange for 8-year WNBA veteran Myisha Hines-Allen. While Dantas is 32 and on an expiring deal, Hines-Allen would give Indiana a boost in frontcourt versatility at least on paper.

But is this a smart move?

Does Hines-Allen Solve Indiana’s Needs?

Aliyah Boston has anchored the Fever frontcourt, but beyond her, it’s been rocky. Natasha Howard had a slow start. Brianna Turner has underperformed. DeWanna Bonner’s Fever stint ended abruptly. Rookie Makayla Timpson is progressing, but experience is lacking.

That’s where Hines-Allen could come in.

She was a key bench piece during Minnesota’s Finals run last season and is known for her shooting touch. With a career 34.7% mark from deep, she brings range the Fever’s frontcourt sorely lacks. However, her 2025 numbers are down just 29.6% from three with Dallas.

Still, the Fever wouldn’t be giving up much, and ESPN argues the potential upside is worth the gamble.

There’s one catch: the money.

Indiana would absorb Hines-Allen’s $200K salary. Dantas makes $100K, so that difference could squeeze Indiana’s cap space. That matters, especially with the Fever recently signing Chloe Bibby to a 7-day deal. The Aussie rookie has hit 43.5% from deep in limited minutes and could earn a rest-of-season spot.

Indiana has momentum after back-to-back wins and currently holds the sixth seed. With Caitlin Clark recovering from injury, now may be the right time to go all-in.

Whether it’s Hines-Allen or another target, expect Indiana to stay aggressive as the deadline nears.
