LIV Disappointment Sparks Talk of Retirement
Dustin Johnson‘s rough 2025 season on the LIV Golf circuit continued at LIV UK, where he finished dead last, 26 shots behind champion Joaquin Niemann. This marked Johnson’s second rock-bottom finish of the year, following a similar result in Hong Kong.
Once the face of LIV Golf and its inaugural individual champion in 2022, Johnson’s recent slump raises questions about his longevity in the game. At 41, the former PGA Tour star is clearly closer to the end of his career, and he’s already made it clear what’s next.

Dustin Plans to Fish
Ahead of June’s U.S. Open, Johnson told the Associated Press, “I think I’ve got another six years in me. I can grind for another six years. And then I’m going fishing.”
When asked why continuing would be a grind, Johnson confidently said, “Because I want to get back. I know I’ve still got it.”
While he hasn’t been able to show that confidence in results lately, Johnson remains optimistic. Despite missing three straight major cuts this season, he salvaged a T-23 finish at The Open.
Speaking to reporters, Johnson said his performance wasn’t as poor as his scores indicated. “Masters was the putter. PGA, I had more putts in the first round than I ever have. But I hit it well,” he said.
At The Open, he narrowly made the cut and was proud of how he finished. “I’m happy with the game. It’s trending in the right direction.”
Despite recent setbacks, Johnson seems determined to finish strong before heading off into his long-anticipated fishing retirement.
