Dale Jr. Chokes Up After Larson Wrecks JRM Veteran at Indy

Larson’s Costly Mistake Shocks Dale Jr. at Indy

Indianapolis Motor Speedway delivered one of the most emotional and chaotic weekends in recent NASCAR memory. The 2025 Xfinity Series race brought high-stakes tension and heartbreak, especially for Dale Earnhardt Jr., whose team was just laps away from a historic win.

The drama peaked during a late restart with just 11 laps to go. Kyle Larson, battling fiercely at the front, got loose behind Justin Allgaier’s No. 7 car and clipped him, sending the JR Motorsports veteran hard into the outside wall. The wreck ended Allgaier’s day in 36th just moments after he had dominated the first two stages and looked poised to earn JRM’s 100th win.

Allgaier Robbed of Historic Victory

The crash was devastating. Allgaier, JRM’s most successful driver and the defending Xfinity champion, had positioned himself perfectly to make history. Team owner Dale Jr. was visibly emotional post-race. Speaking to PRNlive, he said,

“Hate to see Justin wrecked out like that… I really feel for him.”

Allgaier admitted, “I got a lot of damage,” as his race, and milestone moment ended early.

While one JRM car went down, another rose. Connor Zilisch, the 18-year-old phenom, capitalized on the Larson-Allgaier collision to snatch the lead. With composure beyond his years, he held off the pack to win and deliver JR Motorsports’ 100th Xfinity Series victory.

Zilisch, who has now won 5 races this season, celebrated with joy:

“Those bricks look really kissable, and I’m ready to kiss ’em!”

He’s now tied for fourth in all-time JRM wins and is clearly the breakout star of the 2025 season.
