Caitlin Clark Breaks 25yr Old WNBA Record in Win Over Sun

Caitlin Clark Makes WNBA History Against Connecticut Sun

Caitlin Clark continues rewriting WNBA history this time by becoming the fastest player ever to reach 450 career assists.

In Tuesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun, Clark recorded her historic fifth assist midway through the third quarter. That dime, a quick feed to Sophie Cunningham for a layup, made Clark the fastest WNBA player to hit 450 assists reaching the milestone in just 53 games.

Passing Legends With Every Game

Clark shattered the previous record set by Ticha Penicheiro, who reached 450 assists in 62 games back in 1999. Teresa Weatherspoon, another all-time great, hit the same mark in 71 games. Clark didn’t just beat those records, she crushed them.

This isn’t new territory for the Indiana Fever star. In her rookie season, Clark set league records for:

  • Most assists in a single game (19)
  • Most assists in a season (337)

She now adds another major milestone to her growing résumé, all while keeping Indiana’s playoff hopes alive.

Heating Up Before All-Star Weekend

Tuesday’s performance also helped push the Fever above .500 with an 11–10 record. It marked their third straight win, and Clark’s all-around game continues to be the engine behind Indiana’s resurgence.

Up next? A challenging matchup against the New York Liberty on Wednesday the Fever’s final stop before All-Star Weekend, where Clark will captain one of the squads.

While Clark still holds the single-season assist record, Alyssa Thomas of the Phoenix Mercury is on pace to challenge that mark this season. It sets the stage for an exciting second half of the year.

For now, though, Clark remains the league’s premier playmaker and she just added one more record to her already incredible start.
