Sky Fans Rip Kamilla Cardoso After Disappointing Loss to Lynx

Kamilla Cardoso’s Rollercoaster Week

Less than three days ago, Kamilla Cardoso was being praised as a franchise cornerstone for the Chicago Sky. Coming off a dominant 18-point, 18-rebound performance in a win over the Minnesota Lynx, the rookie center had fans buzzing about Chicago’s rising young core.

Angel Reese even declared:

“I think we’re the best young core in the league, for sure. Hands down.”

But after the Sky’s rematch with the Lynx on Sunday, much of that buzz turned to backlash and Cardoso became the target.

Fans React to 6-Point Performance and Missed Adjustments

In her second game back from international duty with Brazil, Cardoso struggled. She finished with just 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 turnovers in 26 minutes. She shot 3-of-7 from the field and posted a -4 plus-minus — a sharp drop from her prior performance.

Meanwhile, Angel Reese remained steady, logging her ninth consecutive double-double with 22 points and 10 boards. The contrast only intensified the criticism directed at Cardoso.

One fan didn’t hold back:

“They lost so many possessions by trying to pass the ball to Kamilla in the paint when they had her locked up. The coach didn’t adjust.”

Another added:

“EWill should’ve been in. She can move, space the floor. Kamilla was stuck.”

Elizabeth Williams Shines in Limited Minutes

As frustration mounted, fans also pointed to Elizabeth Williams as a more efficient option. In just 17 minutes, Williams had 7 points (3-of-6 shooting), 2 rebounds, and only one turnover despite the Sky’s congested offense.

Some questioned head coach Tyler Marsh’s rotation decisions, especially given how stagnant the team looked in the half-court.

But not all the criticism was placed squarely on Cardoso. Others pointed to the Sky’s system and spacing, arguing that Cardoso wasn’t being set up to succeed.

“Y’all lost this game due to turnovers and no perimeter defense. And players not knowing how to feed Kamilla,” one fan tweeted.

As the Sky continue building around their two prized rookies, some fans and analysts are beginning to question whether Reese and Cardoso can truly thrive together.

Rosaline Lee raised the issue weeks ago:

“It’s hard to see Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso together. They could be better versions of themselves on different teams.”

One rough outing doesn’t erase Kamilla Cardoso’s potential, but it does raise valid concerns about fit, game planning, and development. With a talented but still-developing roster, the Chicago Sky must figure out how to maximize both of their young stars, before frustration outweighs faith.
