Angel Reese Gets Her Wish After Blasting WNBA Officiating

Angel Reese’s Fiery Complaint Gets a Swift Response

Angel Reese isn’t afraid to speak her mind, and this time, it looks like it paid off. After tearing into the WNBA officiating following the Chicago Sky’s Sunday night win over the Minnesota Lynx. Reese saw a sudden change in how referees handled her physical play.

The Sky forward was outraged after getting just two free throw attempts in the Lynx game, despite her bruising style in the paint.

“It had to be fixed… and I don’t give a damn if I get fined because that [explicit] is cheap, and I am tired of this [explicit],” Reese said after the game.

From Two to Fifteen: A Dramatic Shift in Treatment

Fast forward to Tuesday afternoon against the Washington Mystics, and Reese was sent to the line 15 times. And that’s a season-high. She converted 12 of those attempts and continued her historic stretch with 22 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists, though Chicago lost 81–79.

It was Reese’s sixth straight game with 15 or more rebounds. And she remains the only WNBA player averaging a double-double this season.

Reese has now averaged 12.6 points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game while shooting nearly 80% from the line. She’s been one of the most consistent and physical presences in the league. And her emotional outburst may have been exactly what she needed to get fairer treatment on the court.

The Sky, currently 5-13, still struggles to stack wins, but they’re improving. And with Reese locked in, they’ll have a shot every night.

Next up: a road battle with Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings on Wednesday.
