There’s no love lost between the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders, but that doesn’t mean there’s no respect.
In a recent appearance on the Up & Adams Show, Patrick Mahomes was asked to name the greatest pass-rusher he’s ever faced, and he didn’t even pause.
“I think he’s sacked me the most out of anyone I’ve ever played against,” Mahomes said. “To me, he’s the best pass-rusher that I’ve played against.”
He was talking about Maxx Crosby, the Raiders star defensive end who has become one of the most relentless defenders in the NFL. According to Mahomes, what makes Crosby so tough is the full package—effort, technique, and consistency.
“He gives you the effort, he has the moves, and he has the skill,” Patrick Mahomes added. “It’s hard to have all three and do that every year.”
Crosby and Patrick Mahomes Have Battled 12 Times
Crosby has faced Mahomes 12 times in his career. And the numbers back up the praise. Per Pro Football Focus, Crosby has notched 59 pressures, six sacks, 12 QB hits, and 41 hurries in those matchups. Despite his individual dominance, the Chiefs have gone 10-2 in those games.
Patrick Mahomes, meanwhile, has averaged 297 passing yards, 27 total touchdowns, and just four interceptions against the Raiders, maintaining a stellar 105.5 passer rating.
Crosby also recently spoke to ESPN, declaring himself the best pass-rusher in football and calling his matchups with Mahomes a “match made in heaven.” He credited Kansas City for their success, saying, “They’ve earned it. They’ve won three Super Bowls. They’ve got the best quarterback in football.”
Since entering the league in 2019, Crosby is tied for the fifth-most sacks (59.5) and ranks seventh in sack yardage (425.5).
Even with the fierce rivalry, this mutual respect between two of the NFL’s most competitive stars shows why their battles are always must-watch.
