Fever Coach Faces Fine After Heated Moment in Aces Blowout

Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White found herself in the spotlight for more than just a commanding 81–54 win over the Las Vegas Aces. Despite the team’s dominant performance, secured even without Caitlin Clark, White picked up a technical foul late in the game after shouting at an official.

The outburst came in the fourth quarter, with Indiana already leading by nearly 20 points. White had been visibly frustrated with the officiating, even discussing it with Clark during a timeout. Eventually, her continued commentary drew a whistle from the official—and a lighthearted reaction from Clark.

Caitlin Clark to the Rescue?

Speaking to reporters after the game, White acknowledged that she may be facing a fine from the WNBA. Something she’s already dealt with once this season.

“I don’t know about frustrations boiling over,” White said. “More to just like making a point. Caitlin said she got me though… she just got a bonus.”

Clark’s “bonus” came from Indiana’s WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship win earlier in the week. The Fever players earned up to $30,000 each from a $500,000 prize pool, though coaches like White were excluded. White even joked postgame that the players should cut her in.

White’s Growing Frustration with Officiating

This isn’t the first time White has voiced her displeasure with officiating. She was fined back in May after publicly criticizing refs during a loss to the New York Liberty. Now, with her star rookie willing to foot the bill, White might not hesitate to get fired up again.

The Fever have now won eight of their last 12 games and appear to be finding their rhythm, even with Clark sidelined. With momentum and team chemistry heating up, a little sideline fire from White might just be part of the formula.
