Lynx Coach Issues Statement Before Game Against Fever

Cheryl Reeve Makes It Clear, Lynx Are All-In for the Cup

As the Minnesota Lynx prepare for their winner-take-all showdown against the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night, head coach Cheryl Reeve isn’t holding anything back. With the 2025 Commissioner’s Cup title and $500,000 in prize money on the line, Reeve said her team is more than ready and motivated.

“I’m really happy for the players,” Reeve said ahead of the matchup. “They are excited to play in this game, as I’m sure Indy is as well. We’ve said this before: winning the Cup, it’s hardware. And money, right? This is really meaningful to them, especially some of our younger players.”

Stakes Are Higher Than a Deep Playoff Run

The Commissioner’s Cup, once seen as a midseason tournament, has grown in stature. According to Reeve, the financial reward from a single Cup game can rival or even surpass a long playoff run. That’s especially important for younger players trying to establish themselves, and veterans who understand the rare chance to earn extra while chasing a title.

“You want it, whatever the name of the championship,” Reeve added. “Call it whatever kind of cup, it’s still a championship. You want the hardware. This would be a feather in the cap for this team.”

Fever Await Clark’s Return Ahead of Title Bout

The Lynx aren’t the only team with fire in their eyes. The Indiana Fever are equally eager to clinch a title, but all eyes are on whether Caitlin Clark will return from her groin injury. The 23-year-old has missed the last two games and is officially listed as questionable for the final.

If Clark suits up, the Fever may get the spark they need. But either way, Tuesday’s game promises high drama and high stakes for both squads.
